As we embark on the second half of this challenging school year, now is the time to review and reflect on our practices. Science assessment practices may need some fine tuning in a remote environment. It’s important that you define a clear process, promote transparency, and provide guidance tailored to the unique situations of your students and families. In this month’s message, you’ll hear Tori Soileau, regional director of implementation support, discuss best practices for delivering assessments, protocols for post-assessment science discourse, and guidance for each assessment type in PhD Science^®. Implementers will walk away with a set of questions to help them reflect on their own assessment practices and identify opportunities for growth.

Tori Soileau

Prior to joining Great Minds, Tori Soileau was an elementary school classroom teacher in Louisiana public schools. In her last year teaching in the classroom, Tori had the opportunity to pilot PhD Science in her third-grade classroom. Tori’s classroom transformed during the pilot, and students grew in ways that she could not have imagined because of PhD Science. That spring, Tori joined the team as a summer associate to spread her knowledge and passion with other educators through professional development. Tori officially joined Great Minds as a full-time member in May 2019, now serving as the regional director of implementation support. Tori is passionate about supporting districts for a successful implementation, finding solutions for teachers, and helping all students realize they are capable of greatness. She lives in Baton Rouge.
