Eureka Math® teacher–writers created Eureka Math Equip™, an adaptive digital diagnostic tool designed to identify learning gaps and address them through direct instructional videos and fluency practice.
Eureka Math Equip's premodule assessments provide educators with a snapshot of the essential foundational knowledge a student has that will be needed in upcoming lessons. It should become standard practice to have students complete these assessments throughout the school year before beginning a new module.
Eureka Math Equip determines each student’s last point of success with a concept and provides content tailored to that student’s particular needs. Teachers can use Eureka Math Equip with individual students, cohorts, and full classes to help prepare them for the upcoming school year.
Great Minds® understands that unfinished learning looks different for every student. We believe accelerated instruction should too.
Eureka Math Equip was designed to ensure that students have the essential foundational knowledge they need to engage with grade-level content as they return to school and throughout the year. This adaptive diagnostic tool identifies a student’s last point of success and, through direct instructional videos, supporting lessons, and fluency practice, helps students close knowledge gaps and begin the school year prepared for success.
Premodule assessments that use branch logic to create a custom question path for each student, which helps pinpoint conceptual gaps and misunderstandings
Assessment reporting that provides data for individual students and the class as a whole so educators can create learning groups of students with similar needs
Consolidated lessons that draw on content from previous grades to help students overcome any knowledge gaps identified in the premodule assessments
Pacing guidance to ensure that students stay on track with grade-level work while getting caught up—without adding instructional days
In Eureka Math, Module 1 of each grade level jumps right into major work for the grade, and subsequent modules build on that foundation. Our top priority is to make sure students are ready for success in that first module of the coming grade. For example, if students have just completed Grade 3, we want to make sure they are ready for success in Grade 4 Module 1.
To further differentiate your instruction, you can assign the Great Minds in Sync™ videos that accompany our supporting lessons for at-home use to frontload or reinforce content for selected students.
Evaluate: First, students take the Grade-Level Premodule Assessment, which helps teachers identify gaps in foundational knowledge. Premodule Assessments are an important part of the acceleration cycle and can be assigned for each module to ensure teachers are always informed about their students’ knowledge gaps.
Plan: Using the Premodule Assessment results, teachers use the Teacher Guide, which provides a list of essential foundational knowledge for Module 1, to start planning their instruction. The Teacher Guide also includes Supporting Lessons and Supporting Fluencies that teachers can add to their planning calendars.
Deliver: Informed by assessment results and driven by precise planning, teachers differentiate instruction. Equip’s problem sets, which build from simple to complex, are easy to adapt to support differentiation.
Monitor: By using assessment data, problem practice, and planned instruction, teachers can identify any knowledge gaps that could interfere with student success and provide just-in-time instruction to address those gaps.
