Though one of the most exciting times of the school year, the last few weeks before summer break can also be a difficult time to keep students engaged.
In this video, Tori Soileau, regional director of implementation support, discusses ways to keep students engaged at the end of the school year, from capstone projects for students to complete now to introducing investigations that students can pursue over the summer. The video concludes with a discussion of an end-of-year checklist that teachers can use to set themselves up for success as they shift from teaching to planning for next year.
Tori Soileau
Prior to joining Great Minds, Tori Soileau was an elementary school classroom teacher in Louisiana public schools. In her last year teaching in the classroom, Tori had the opportunity to pilot PhD Science in her third-grade classroom. Tori’s classroom transformed during the pilot, and students grew in ways that she could not have imagined because of PhD Science. That spring, Tori joined the team as a summer associate to spread her knowledge and passion with other educators through professional development. Tori officially joined Great Minds as a full-time member in May 2019, now serving as the regional director of implementation support. Tori is passionate about supporting districts for a successful implementation, finding solutions for teachers, and helping all students realize they are capable of greatness. She lives in Baton Rouge.
