Fostering a Questioning Spirit through Fine Art

Arts & Letters enriches students’ learning by integrating fine art into the curriculum. Each art piece connects to the larger module topic, allowing students to develop their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills without the barrier of written text. Level 1 Module 3 features Ejiri in Suruga Province (Sunshū Ejiri), from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (Fugaku sanjūrokkei) by Katsushika Hokusai. This piece allows students to reflect on the module’s Essential Question, “How is the wind powerful?” Students can gain an understanding of seasonal change and energy resources, all while building art-specific vocabulary with terms like palette and composition.

Everything Needed to Teach and Learn ELA

Arts & Letters offers both print and a digital experience, engaging students while equipping teachers with the resources they need to teach every ELA lesson confidently.
