Defining Learning Goals

Standards-aligned Achievement Descriptors and their corresponding Proficiency Indicators set a standard for success, while diagnostic, Pre-Module Assessments determine the support students may need to access grade-level content.

Achievement Descriptors and Proficiency Indicators

Achievement Descriptors outline what students should know and be able to do after each lesson or module and are in the front of every Teach book.

Proficiency Indicators reveal how well students understand the concepts taught in a lesson or module and are in the back of every Teach book.

Diagnostic, Pre-Module Assessments Powered by Eureka MathEquip

Eureka Math2 Equip™ (Level 1–Algebra I/Mathematics I) begins with a diagnostic Pre-Module digital assessment that identifies a student’s last point of success with the essential foundational knowledge. A detailed report and linked supporting activities help teachers seamlessly bridge any gaps identified by the assessment. Eureka Math2 Equip is part of the premium assessment package.

Formative Assessment

Progress-monitoring tools ensure students are on track and give teachers data to make real-time course corrections leading toward proficiency with grade-level standards and expectations.

Observational Assessment Recording Sheet

FOR GRADE LEVELS PK–ALGEBRA I/MATHEMATICS I

A short, qualitative checklist that captures student progress toward specific Developmental Progressions (PK) or Achievement Descriptors (K–Algebra I/Mathematics I).

Topic Tickets and Quizzes

FOR GRADE LEVELS 1–ALGEBRA I/MATHEMATICS I

Topic Tickets (Levels 1–2) and Topic Quizzes (Level 3–Algebra I/Mathematics I) may also be used as a summative assessment.

Performance Assessments

FOR GRADE LEVELS K–ALGEBRA I

Performance assessments are activities that assess students on content and practice standards by asking them to apply their understanding and skills to solve knowledge-rich context problems. Students will demonstrate their ability to synthesize understandings and skills with each cross-curricular, high-interest assessment scenario. These activities emphasize real-world application, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking, allowing teachers to evaluate not only what students know but also how they can apply their knowledge in various contexts.

Summative Assessment

Measure proficiency with major concepts, skills, and applications against standards over time with summative assessments. Summative assessments include a variety of technology-enhanced items found on annual state tests, including fill-in-the-blank, short answer, multiple-choice, choice matrix, drag and drop, graphing, hot spot, plotting, and constructed response.

Module Assessments

FOR GRADE LEVELS PK–ALGEBRA I/MATHEMATICS I

Assess student proficiency with the major concepts, skills, and applications at the end of each module.

Benchmark Assessments Samples - Printed and Digital

Benchmark Assessments

FOR GRADE LEVELS 3–ALGEBRA I/MATHEMATICS I

Assess student proficiency with math skills from previous modules, and select review skills and concepts reflecting the major work of the grade. Available for print (Levels 1–2) and digital (Level 3–Algebra I/Mathematics I) administration. Benchmark Assessments are part of the premium assessment package.

Assessment Data THAT INFLUENCES Instruction
Digital Assessments and Auto-Generated Proficiency Reports

When assessments are administered digitally, teachers gain access to a large variety of auto-generated proficiency reports. Digital assigned assessments can be given to individual students, groups of students, or entire classes of students. Digital assessments generate highly visual reports that outline student performance and proficiency at the student, class, school, and district levels so responsive teaching and resource decisions can be easily made with data.

  • Classroom Reports: Access whole-class data to identify trends, form learning groups, and monitor progress.
  • Individual Reports: View data at the individual student level to identify misconceptions, communicate with families, and address relearning.
  • Admin Reports: Monitor proficiency from a district level with administrative reports broken down by standard, grade level, school, etc.
  • Eureka Math2 Equip™ Reports: Analyze student performance on pre-module assessments, view auto-generated student group recommendations based on needs, and access supporting activities to help fill gaps in foundational knowledge.
