Large Urban District has faster growth than state:
In other words, the urban district's year over year improvement in proficiency is more than two times greater than that of the state. If these rates of improvement continue, the district will be outperforming the state by school year 2026-2027.
The schools within the urban district that used Great Minds coaching services saw proficiency rates grow even more–up 3.2 percentage points in 2024 compared to 2023. Furthermore, Black students in the large urban district in California are outperforming Black students statewide.
As you can see in the second chart, more Black students in grades 3–5 in the large urban district are meeting the proficiency standard as compared to Black students statewide. In addition, the proficiency scores for Black students in the urban district improved by 2.4 percentage points on the latest round of testing, compared to a 1.1-point improvement among Black students statewide. This year over year increase in proficiency for the urban district is, again, more than two times greater than that of the state.
