BUILDING A FOUNDATION
Educators develop a foundational understanding of Arts & Letters’s design and learn best practices for preparing to teach the curriculum. These sessions are appropriate for educators starting year 1 with Arts & Letters or who have not yet engaged in professional learning around Arts & Letters. All virtual sessions can accommodate up to 35 educators; on-site sessions can accommodate up to 50 educators.
Explore Arts & Letters
In Explore Arts & Letters, participants engage in active, foundational learning to set the stage for a successful pilot or launch of implementation. This session is designed for new Great Minds partners and those making the transition from Wit & Wisdom. At the end of this 90-minute session, participants will be able to articulate what Arts & Letters is and have taken concrete steps to begin their implementation journey.
*We recommend that new partners engage in a full-day of learning with Launch and Module Study together. If time and resources do not allow for this foundation, Explore can be an option as a starting point for professional learning.
Launch Arts & Letters
Launch Arts & Letters offers new implementers the chance to experience the Arts & Letters instructional approach through an interactive experience, followed by a structured exploration of the curriculum materials and resources.
This 3-hour session can be combined with Module and Lesson Study for a full day of foundational learning.
Module and Lesson Study
In this 3-hour session, participants apply the module and lesson study preparation protocols to upcoming modules and lessons at their grade level, learning from a facilitator about the value of preparation for implementation success.
Module and Lesson Study can be combined with Launch Arts & Letters for a full day of foundational learning.
Lead Arts & Letters
In this session, leaders build their knowledge and skills for a successful implementation. Participants actively explore Arts & Letters materials to build understanding of the Arts & Letters structure, organization, and components and the curriculum’s approach to English language arts and literacy. Knowledge of the curriculum benefits leaders as they lead instruction and engage in observations. Throughout, the session is grounded in leaders’ exploration of practical ways to effectively manage change and lead a successful implementation.
