Fundations® teaches accuracy of decoding, spelling and handwriting in a carefully integrated and scaffolded sequence that is taught to a mastery level.  Instruction is cumulative in Fundations®, and skills are presented sequentially in four levels from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. Each level is a year-long program universally designed to serve all K–3 students. It also includes a targeted instruction and intervention component for struggling students and is integral to a response to intervention model.  Each 30-minute lesson comprehensively addresses Florida’s B.E.S.T. Foundational Skills Standards.
