Math For All: Creating Equitable Math Classrooms

Every student learns differently, but with high-quality materials like the revolutionary new K–Algebra I Eureka Math2—and the knowledge of how to implement the materials with fidelity—teachers are empowered to provide equitable math instruction to support each and every student.


During this free Learning Lab, participants will do the following:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of what “equity” in math looks like and its increased importance in today’s math classrooms.

  • Learn effective teaching practices to address learner variances and support all students in building a conceptual understanding of math.

  • Experience the Eureka Math2 learning design and how it supports student equity while aligning to “The Big Math Ideas” outlined by Keep Indiana Learning. 

  • Consult with the Great Minds Indiana team and curriculum experts on how to ensure student equity at their own school/district.


Students Are the Key: A Focus On Student Engagement

Monday, September 19

High-quality instructional materials should allow for regular opportunities for peer-to-peer student discourse to provide educators with a window into student learning and support student equity as students are able to share ideas with classmates to solidify a deeper conceptual understanding of mathematics and access grade-level content.


During this free Learning Lab, participants will do the following:

  • Learn instructional routines inherent in Eureka Math2 for fostering student discourse as a means of student engagement and supporting student equity in math classrooms.

  • Learn how Eureka Math2 incorporates the various methods discussed in 5 Practices for Orchestrating Productive Mathematics Discussions.

  • Consult with the Great Minds Indiana team on additional strategies for increasing student engagement.


Providing Relevant Math: Aligning With Indiana Standards and ILEARN

Providing
a math curriculum that empowers teachers in the classroom and allows for all students to master Indiana standards is critical for student success on the ILEARN assessments. What do these materials look like and what kind of support must be available for teachers, students, and families to make it happen?

Join the Great Minds Indiana team for a panel discussion with Indiana educators on their journey implementing the revolutionary new, Indiana standards-aligned Eureka Math2 curriculum.


During this free Learning Lab Panel Discussion, participants will:

  • Hear district leaders detail their journey reviewing and selecting the standards-aligned Eureka Math2 

  • Experience how the Eureka Math2 learning design supports Indiana teachers in providing equitable instruction to ensure student success on ILEARN assessments.

  • Have the opportunity to consult with area educators on the instructional strategies and best practices they used to successfully implement the curriculum.

 

 All registrants will receive a recording of the sessions for which they registered.
