USING DIGITAL TOOLS TO CONNECT STUDENTS WITH EXPERTS AND THE REAL WORLD

Bringing the Outside In: Using Digital Tools to Connect Students with Experts and the Real World

Roundtable Discussion

Digital tools have done more than connect students to educators in the past year; they’ve also transported students to experiences and destinations near and far and into the offices of experts across the country. As students have learned and built their knowledge over the last year, educators have expanded the walls of the classroom to include experts, authors, adventurers, and farm animals for students to engage with and further their knowledge.

In this webinar, we will hear from educators who have connected their students with content experts, experiences, and opportunities to extend their classroom learning, allowing students to share their knowledge, ask questions, and engage in meaningful discourse with experts and on topics they’re studying in the classroom. By providing these opportunities for students, educators are expanding horizons for students and connecting classroom experiences to the world outside of school. How did they do it? Join the webinar and find out.

Participants will:

  • Discover the innovative ways that educators have leveraged digital tools to bring experts and experiences to their classrooms (real or virtual), giving students the opportunity to engage with an expert or experience on a topic they have been studying
  • Learn how they can create these same opportunities for their students including how to establish these external connections for students and how to prepare for the discussion
  • Hear about the positive impacts of a more digital environment from the perspective of educators who are leveraging it to extend the classroom and what these educators will carry forward with them in the return to in-person learning
  • Explore how the curriculum empowers students to engage in conversations with experts, authors, and others, helping students see themselves as capable of greatness
